Rolls sticking together? Film becoming brittle? Before changing machine settings, check how the film has been stored.
PVA water-soluble film can be affected by moisture in the air—even without direct contact with water. Excess humidity may soften the film or cause sticking; overly dry conditions may make it brittle. Storage is one possible cause, not a diagnosis of every film problem.
1、Keep conditions stable
For the film covered by our supplier's current guidance, the recommended conditions are 15–25°C and 40–60% relative humidity, with humidity kept at or below 65%. These are product-specific reference conditions, not a universal standard for all PVA films. Follow the instructions for your film grade.
Measure conditions near the rolls, rather than relying only on the air-conditioner setting. Keep film away from direct sunlight, heat and damp areas.
Keep unused film sealed and follow the storage guidance for your film grade. Illustration only.
2、Open only when needed
Keep the original protective packaging intact until use. Reseal unused film as instructed by the supplier and label the batch and opening date. A cardboard box alone does not replace moisture-barrier packaging.
3、Take care when moving between rooms
Moving cold rolls into a warm, humid workshop can create condensation. Follow your supplier's guidance for acclimatizing the rolls while still sealed. There is no single waiting time that fits every roll and temperature difference.
4、Don't try to bake a problem away
If film becomes sticky or brittle, set the affected rolls aside. Record the batch, storage conditions and visible changes before seeking advice. Avoid improvised heating or drying treatments.
Before the next run
Check the packaging, record temperature and humidity, and use stock within its specified shelf life. If a problem continues, review the film grade, formulation and machine settings as well as storage.
